Leeds Eviction Notice

7 Dec

Leeds University management has officially issued the students occupying the Michael Sadler building an eviction notice.

The eviction is to be carried out at 8am, Wednesday 8th December.

Our press officer, Ian Pattison, is also currently being seriously harrased and intimidated by West Yorkshire Police, ahead of the planned protest against cuts tomorrow afternoon.

The occupation is calling on all supporters to mobilise in defence of the students right to peaceful protest.

We encourage everybody to stay over in the occupation this evening, and/or rally at the occupation Wednesday, 7.30am.

Yours in solidarity,
‘The Occupiers’.

I’m a journalist and teacher based in Nottingham and wanted to show my support to your cause and let you know that there is a real sense of solidarity here in Nottingham with schools, universities and trade unions pulling together to thwart the ‘Cleggeron’. See this report on a recent demonstration as well as some useful links at the bottom, including one for any students facing financial difficulties. http://www.leftlion.co.uk/articles.cfm/id/3312

There are degree ceremonies next week, the occupiers NEED to leave. You’ve made your point and I support your right to protest but you have to start being considerate of other people.

Hey Tom, I’d suggest you go along to the occupation and address them with your concerns. There is a general meeting happening tonight (Tuesday) at 5pm.
